Typically I use the Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner every day on my brushes and then every other week I will do a deep clean with The Ecotools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo. It is quick, easy, gets my brushes cleaned and it smells good. So I was excited to see how this Sephora brand brush cleaner would work.
First off, I am not a fan of the packaging. It comes in an aerosol can and is it 2.0 fl oz. The nozzle of the can is hard to press down and when you press it, I don’t feel like a whole lot of product comes out. The bottle is actually pretty small – a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. It seemed like I had to use a lot of product to get my brushes clean. The formula felt kind of greasy, probably due to the fact that it has Safflower oil and sweet almond oil in the ingredients. Plus it definitely left my brushes looking and feeling greasy. Greasy to the point that my brushes looked like a teenage girl who hasn’t washed her hair in over a week haha.
Second, I HATE the scent of this stuff. It is very strong and for me personally it isn’t my type of smell. It has almost a strong, unpleasant, floral smell and it was giving me a headache. The worst part is the next day I was doing my makeup with the brushes, I cleaned the night before, and they still had that strong pungent scent on them and they were still greasy.
Needless to say I do not like this product unfortunately. I will stick with my Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner for now.
